Context of the project to create a restaurant “La Démocratie”
La Démocratie is a unique place in Paris. It is full of history for the Aurélien family. A great story because his great-grand father was the founder of the newspaper Le Sillon and the leader of the Christian left in France in the 1900s. From this epic, there remains a beautiful building of eclectic style and a foundation called “La Démocratie” led by Aurélien and his family. The creation of the restaurant contributes to the knowledge of this mythical place and this history.
Since 1902, the district has been urbanized. High buildings have been erected all around the plot. Having a sunny terrace is a major challenge for restaurants. This is also the case for the Aurélien project.
How can we enhance this place and bring it out of the shadows? Aurélien wanted to brighten up the restaurant’s terrace.
Search for solutions to capture the sun’s rays
According to Aurélien, it was not a question of surrounding the terrace of the restaurant with a garden. But rather to create a magnificent garden in which to arrange some privileged places for the guests. The restaurant’s guests are literally surrounded by vegetation. The place is very intimate while it is located in the center of Paris, in the most popular district on the left bank of Paris. Le Lutetia and Le Bon Marché are close. In the restaurant’s garden, the light seems to come out of the plants. Their intense green color contrasts with the ochre tones of the apparent grinding stone. Moreover Aurélien wanted to capture the sun and share it with his guests.
It is by searching for solutions on the Internet that he discovers Espaciel and its famous Light Reflectors. Il s’en suit un échange au téléphone avec un conseiller lumière Espaciel. Following a conversation with a Espaciel advisor. it is recommended to Aurélien to equip the terrace with several Solar Patio Reflectors. This product is ideally designed for the Aurélien project. Placed high up on the wall that delimits the garden, the Solar Patio Reflector receives the sun’s rays and redirects them downwards by mirror effect. The curved shape of the Solar Patio Reflector allows the sun’s rays to be distributed over the entire width of the garden.
The installation was carried out by a team of installers trained by Espaciel Equipped with large ladders and safety harnesses, they installed the 6 Reflectors over two days. The work was concentrated at the beginning and end of the day, to adapt to the rhythm of the service and the activity of the restaurant.
Obtained Results
The 6 Solar Patio Reflectors allow you to brighten up the restaurant’s terrace. The result is impressive. Guests enjoy eating out in the sun thanks to the Light Reflectors. Especially since the light they reflect is soft. The curve of the Reflectors reduces the glare of the sun by naturally illuminating. The presence of the rays of sunlight is discreet but noticeable in the garden.
A restaurant terrace in the shade is less appreciated than a terrace in the sun. And even if the place benefits from other exceptional attractions. This is also the observation made by Aurélien, manager of the restaurant La Démocratie in Paris. That’s the point of the solution proposed by Espaciel with the Solar Patio Reflector. It allows to redirect the sun’s rays onto the terrace.
