Philippe and his wife live in a village house in the pretty town of Carcassonne, France. Exposed to the east, its living room and kitchen are often dark, with little sun and light. This lack of light is due to several factors; very thick walls, a narrow street and high buildings opposite. How did you think about the light reflector?

I didn’t know Espaciel when I started my research. My very first idea was to install a skylight in my house. After making enquiries, it turned out to be complicated to carry out and the cost was several thousand euros. While searching a little on the Internet, I came across Espaciel’s website. The light reflectors seemed more appropriate to my need for natural light and the price of a reflector is less than a skylight. Moreover, the reflectors do not require any major work. Which is a decisive advantage.

What type of reflector did you order? And how did you choose it?

To choose the reflector that best suited my home, I preferred to contact a lighting consultant. I first got Jérémie by e-mail, then by phone. He listened to me and asked a few specific questions about my need for natural light. He then proposed a suitable solution to compensate for my thick walls.

For the windows in my living room, which measure about 1.15 cm from wall to wall, I chose 2 window reflectors of 100 X 25 cm. I installed the reflectors on my window sills myself. The adjustable bar is easy to spread out and rests strongly on the walls on the right and left. It’s very simple and fast. The manual explains how to do it well.

How do the light reflectors fit into your facade?

All right. All right. They are placed outside in the window frames, at the bottom of the window to be precise. The reflectors are thin and unobtrusive. They blend in very well with the urban environment.

 

 

I see you have shutters on your windows. Do you still manage to close them?

Yes! When I close my shutters, I simply fold the reflector inward. My flaps fold over. So the reflector is on the inside of the flap. And in the morning, I open my shutters, and then I tilt the light reflectors. It’s very simple.

Are you satisfied with light reflectors?

I am completely satisfied with the effect of the Espaciel reflectors! My living room and kitchen have more natural light than before. It’s even better than I imagined! It all depends on the brightness, of course, but the gain in light is still visible every day. What’s more, it’s also a gain in electricity, we don’t have to light these rooms constantly anymore.

The lamps are turned on from time to time, but less often. Cooking has become a real pleasure again! My room is bright and I feel good in it. Even when it rains or is grey, the effect of the reflector is felt in the room. It is less dark.

 

 

Any last words?

I’d say the facility is within everyone’s reach. The adjustable bar adjusts perfectly to the window frame. Once the bar is fixed, simply clip the reflector onto it. The reflector can then be tilted by hand very easily. Once the tilt is set, you don’t need to touch it anymore.

Reflector maintenance is super easy. Simply spray the surface of the reflector from time to time with glass spray and rub it with a soft cloth. These are good, strong and effective products. I’ve talked to some of the neighbours about them. Since they live on the same street as I do, they too do not have a lot of light in their homes. They are very interested in this solution for their homes.
